MidShire CoolCut MS-20

Semi-synthetic metalworking fluid concentrate for general machining, cutting, and grinding operations on ferrous metals and most non-ferrous alloys.

Product Overview

MidShire CoolCut MS-20 is a semi-synthetic metalworking fluid concentrate designed for use in a wide range of cutting, grinding, milling, turning, drilling, and tapping operations. The semi-synthetic formulation combines the cooling benefits of water-based fluids with the lubrication and surface finish improvements associated with oil-based products.

The product is diluted with water prior to use. Concentrate addition rates will vary depending on the operation — see dilution guidance below. CoolCut MS-20 is suitable for use with ferrous metals including steel and cast iron, and with most aluminium alloys. Always test compatibility with copper alloys and other non-ferrous metals before full use.

Typical Applications

  • General machining — turning, milling, drilling on ferrous metals
  • Surface and cylindrical grinding operations
  • Tapping and threading operations
  • Broaching and reaming
  • Aluminium alloy machining (test compatibility first)
  • General workshop cutting fluid applications

Key Features & Benefits

  • Semi-synthetic formulation — good cooling and lubrication balance
  • Good corrosion protection for both workpiece and machine surfaces
  • Stable emulsion — resists biological degradation and maintains sump life
  • Low foaming tendency — suitable for high-pressure coolant systems
  • Good tramp oil rejection — helps maintain sump cleanliness
  • Operator-friendly formulation — low skin irritation potential at working dilutions
  • Clear to slightly hazy working solution — good visibility of the cutting zone

Dilution & Mixing Guidance

  • Always add concentrate to water — not water to concentrate
  • Use clean, good quality water — very hard or very soft water may affect performance
  • Check concentration regularly using a refractometer
  • Monitor pH regularly — a drop below 8.5 may indicate biological contamination
  • Dispose of spent fluid in accordance with local environmental regulations
